Cheese and Cheers is a consulting business exploring the intersection of craft beer and artisan cheese. We are now available to assist caterers and event planners in selecting and serving craft beer and artisan cheese at receptions, dinners or other events.

Add a craft beer bar to your next wedding reception and delight guests who are thirsty for choices beyond the brown bottle or the green one. How about a tasting of Wisconsin farmstead cheeses paired with Michigan craft beer to liven up a luncheon? Beer schools to entertain hotel guests? We have numerous themes available including Beer 101 for Wine Lovers.

Because we are independent, Cheese and Cheers will not sell you on a selection of beers and cheeses in which we have a vested interest. Instead, we will guide you toward the best available products, from award-winning classic brands to hot new releases and offerings from new brewers and cheesemakers. We can compile a beer list and/or a cheese plate from local, regional, coast-to-coast or international artisans (or any combination thereof) based on your client’s interests. We can also help you identify wholesalers who carry the products, or we can purchase them for you.

We provide custom quotes based on your needs, but packages and prices for 2012 follow this framework:

Craft Beer Bar: For wedding receptions and other events Cheese and Cheese will curate a selection of up to 15 beers with our own independent descriptions of those beers to be presented in your client proposal.  Once final selections are made we will write a menu that can be made available to guests, assist in procuring the beers, and assist in serving and guiding the guests at the event. We will also make recommendations regarding glassware, serving temperatures, etcetera.  Typical price is around $700-$900 plus costs for beer and glassware.

Cheese Walkaround: Cheese and Cheese will curate a selection of up to eight cheeses for a walk-around tasting, providing descriptions and assistance with procurement. We will provide a menu with descriptions and suggested beer and wine pairings, and advice on cheese presentation. Typical price starts at around $300 plus cost of cheese. On-site guidance requires an additional fee.

Cheese and Beer Sit Down: This is our most structured event with a plated flight of up to 8 cheeses and a similar number of beers,  served at the table. The sit down is ideal for groups of 15 to 50 persons. The presentation, tasting and discussion can be done as a seminar session, or an abbreviated version can be done in conjunction with a meal.  Written outlines are provided for guests to take home.  This must be scheduled a month in advance, and the typical price is around $695-$900 plus beer and cheese.

Beer or Cheese School: Similar to the Sit Down, but focused primarily on either beer or cheese, and presented in a slightly more casual manner. The School program offers even more details in terms of beer or cheese knowledge.  This can still be a fun social event, but sits just on the edge of professional training.  Typical price is $450 to $700.
