CCBW Just Getting Started

Now matter how you slice it, Chicago Craft Beer Week has evolved into something the Chicago Beer Community can be proud of. A few things that I am drooling about include:

The lanyard system, with stickers. Way better than the old passport and caps. I can’t wait to add more some stickers tonight.

The rockin’ neighborhood system. With so much stuff going on, there will be times when you want to know what is happening close to where you are. That means nine neighborhoods (plus one suburban region) for you to pick from. Pub crawls are encouraged, but mothing gets in the way of jumping on the CTA to go from Pilsen to the Andersonville if you are so inclined. Stroke of genius!

The Interwebface is lovely. The website looks great and is so intuitive, Facebook and Twitter pages are rockin’ with nearly 10,000 followers combined as of Wednesday.

Participation is way up! Bars and breweries from across the city, burbs and even the state have stepped up. Major sponsors include four of the best distributors who have played such a big role in transforming Chicago from the lackluster beer town it was a few years ago, and the Cicerone Certification Program which has played such a big role in transforming beer service everywhere in the last couple of years.

Ours goes to 11!!  Eleven days of beer bliss for a city with two baseball teams and one, two or tree buildings that have their own zip codes. This is how we roll here.

So, grab your lanyards (and your fixed gear or your CTA pass) and get out there and have a blast!!
